Reports: Getting Started

At Pathways, assessments are not the end of a learning process, but the beginning. Adequately analyzing the results of an assessment allows for targeted instruction that guides maximum growth. While analyzing assessment data can be intimidating, Pathways aims to break down assessment results into digestible and clear reports. Before viewing results, it is important to understand the general purpose of each report:

Summary Reports

Performance Distribution

The Performance Distribution report provides a visual representation of the distribution of student scores for any assessment. Student scores are distributed by performance level projections for Snapshot and Benchmark assessments and by quintiles of percentage correct for all other assessments. Viewing student results by performance level or quintile distribution allows a teacher to see which students are on the edge of a performance level or quintile, with most opportunity to grow into a different level.

Mastery Zone

The Mastery Zone report displays a group (district, school, teacher, or period) mastery level for each item, standard, strand, and overall test. These group mastery levels can be compared to the school, district, or Pathways projected mastery levels. An important element for a teacher or administrator to note from this report is any item, standard, or strand that falls notably below other student groups or projected performance levels.

Item Analysis

The Item Analysis report provides a breakdown of individual student results by providing item level analysis for multiple tiers of testing groups (district, school, teacher, or period). The report includes details for each item such as the most selected distractors and the individual student responses. This report allows a teacher or administrator to better understand the student misconceptions that may have led to lack of comparative proficiency in certain items, standards, or strands.

Student Level Reports

Student Results

The Student Results report displays each students' percentage correct and points obtained for the assessment. For Snapshots and Benchmark assessments, a projected performance level, growth measurement, and suggested test average are also included. Baseline scores (student’s previous year state test result) and results from other tests given during the year can also be added to this report. In addition, a student report for parents can be printed from the students' results. An important element to be noted from this report is if any students are falling behind compared to previous assessments.

Performance Map

The Performance Map Report displays information about each student's performance by item, standard, or strand on the assessment. The performance map can be particularly helpful for a teacher's understanding of which item, standard, or strand that students should focus on for review.

Longitudinal Standards Summary

The Longitudinal Standards Summary report provides a summary of student performance by standard across multiple assessments. Observing gaps in the mastery of a standard over multiple assessments provides the teacher with a more reliable view of which standards are consistently missed by any given student.

Student Item Analysis

The Student Item Analysis report provides a breakdown of individual student results by providing item level analysis for each student. A student review selecting the easiest items missed can be created on this page.

Student Mastery Zone

The Student Mastery Zone report provides information regarding overall mastery for individual students summarized by standard or strand on the assessment. This report allows teachers to understand which standard or strand a particular student most needs to review.
